Macquarie University Health is seeking an experienced and motivated Practice Manager to lead the operational management and growth of our expanding Cancer portfolio.

This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in the development of a new private Medical Oncology service, while also providing operational leadership across our Clinical Trials Clinic, Plastic Surgery, Skin Cancer and Breast Health Clinics.

A key focus of this role will be helping to bring together a group of specialists to establish and grow a contemporary cancer service. Success in this position will require a confident and experienced healthcare leader who can build strong relationships, manage expectations, drive accountability and create a culture of collaboration, professionalism and service excellence.

In this role, you will also oversee a team of receptionists, all in an effort to build a high quality and professional service for patients. You will work closely with the relevant Clinic Directors/leads in providing professional management in our practices. Your leadership will create opportunities for you to network and work collaboratively with a wide range of staff as we support patients on their healthcare journey from community to acute inpatient care within a single organisation.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone with previous healthcare or clinical team leadership experience. You will also have fantastic people management skills and a passion for service excellence in a fast-paced outpatient environment.

About You

  • Experience managing or coordinating a healthcare clinic, specialist practice or clinical team
  • Proven leadership and staff management capability, including the ability to motivate, supervise and develop a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to engage effectively with specialists, staff and patients
  • Demonstrated experience using electronic practice management systems (such as Genie or Best Practice)
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise competing demands in a fast-paced outpatient environment
  • Sound understanding of Medicare and private health insurance in Australia, with a demonstrated track record in managing clinic financial and operational performance
